DSOBA Centennial Gala – FAQ General

  • The Centennial Gala is a show that consists of a variety of high-calibre production & performances that commemorates our 100th anniversary of DSOBA. Due to the current social distancing measures, all attendees need to wear masks at all times and no food or beverage will be provided. That said we promise that it will be a memorable and entertaining event and also a great opportunity for you to reunite with friends of the Diocesan community.
  • Yes, we have arranged post-gala dinner banquets with limited capacity per Government restrictions – this will only be available for sign-ups by those who have attended our Centennial Gala and will be subject to the relevant social distancing measures.

The Gala

  • We welcome all to sign up for the Centennial Gala. However, in order to ensure that we comply with the latest social distancing measures and other related regulations as adopted by the HKSAR Government and/or HKCEC, all guests will need to:
    • Be subject to body temperature checking prior to entry;
    • Wear masks throughout the entire Centennial Gala; and
    • Use “LeaveHomeSafe” (安心出行) mobile application when entering and leaving the Centennial Gala.
  • You can purchase the Centennial Gala entry tickets and make online payment at https://portal.dsoba.com/event/cg100-event/.
  • We recommend coming to the Centennial Gala venue earlier as registration begins at 4:30 p.m. The foyer outside the Grand Hall will be decorated for guests to meet up with friends and to take pictures. The Centennial Gala will promptly start at 6:00 p.m.
  •  
  • The organizing committee will try its best to make such arrangements so that you can sit with your friends and/or your class together, although this will be subject to the subscriptions that we receive, as well as the latest social distancing measures and other related regulations.
  •  
  • Yes, you can walk around and mingle during the Centennial Gala, provided that:
    • it does not affect the performances during the Centennial Gala, and
    • you wear your mask at all times when walking around and mingling with your friends during the Centennial Gala.

The Centennial Gala is open to both vaccinated (whether having taken 1 or 2 doses) as well as non-vaccinated guests. To ensure additional safety of all guests, Gala ticket buyers will receive a notification email with pre-registration link: (https://portal.dsoba.com/member-profile/my-ticket/). All guests attending the Gala are required to pre-register on or before 12th Nov 2021. We also wish to remind all guests to:

  • Be subject to body temperature checking prior to entry;
  • Wear masks throughout the entire Centennial Gala; and
  • Use “LeaveHomeSafe” mobile application when entering and leaving the Centennial Gala.
  • For non-vaccinated guests, please fill in and submit the health declaration form online prior to the show (You will receive the online health declaration link by email on 19th Nov 2021). Please show your submission confirmation email when you arrive at the Gala on the 20th Nov 2021. 
  • If you are attending our post Gala dinner, you are required to bring your vaccine record with QR code for HKCEC to scan prior to entering the dining halls. HKCEC is a category D catering premise, which requires at least 2/3 of guests already received first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
  • The Centennial Gala is open to both vaccinated (whether having taken 1 or 2 doses) as well as non-vaccinated guests. The organizing committee would require all guests to be pre-registered with either vaccination proof, or otherwise proof of negative results from either a COVID-19 PCR test conducted 7 days prior to the Centennial Gala or COVID-19 rapid antigen test conducted 2 days prior to the Centennial Gala). We wish to remind all guests to:
    • Be subject to body temperature checking prior to entry;
    • Wear masks throughout the entire Centennial Gala; and
    • Use “LeaveHomeSafe” mobile application when entering and leaving the Centennial Gala.
  • You can make online payment at the same time when you subscribe for the Centennial Gala at https://portal.dsoba.com/centennial-gala/.
  • We regret to inform you that for administrative reasons there will be no refund for your subscription if you cannot turn up for the Centennial Gala.
  • The Organizing Committee has a taskforce specifically dedicated to the monitoring of the social distancing measures and related regulations on an ongoing basis. In case such measures get tightened closer to the Centennial Gala, the Organizing Committee will do its utmost to continue to hold the Centennial Gala subject to the tightened measures and in accordance with any other requirements as may be imposed by the HKSAR Government and/or HKCEC. At the moment the Organizing Committee cannot see a total cancellation of the Centennial Gala but should this happen, the Organizing Committee will try to see if any refund can be made.
  • Our Organizing Committee members will be around at the Grand Hall with the raffle tickets so there is no need to make online payment. The raffle results will be posted on Singtao newspaper, the Standard newspaper and DSOBA website on or after 24th Nov 2021.
  • One of the HKCEC requirements for us to organize the Centennial Gala is to have all guests using and scanning the “LeaveHomeSafe” mobile application and to ensure smooth entry at the reception, please have it installed in advance.
  • To avoid unnecessarily crowding up any area within HKCEC prior to the Centennial Gala, we strongly suggest that you arrive outside the Grand Hall at 4:30 p.m. which is when we will open up the venue for entry. The Centennial Gala show will promptly start at 6:00 p.m.
  • Guests should keep their masks on at all times throughout the Centennial Gala.
  • The dress code for the Centennial Gala is formal but you are encouraged to add on a DBS-related element to your outfit. Ladies are encouraged to wear outfits that match the 1920’s era or anything you deem fitting to such theme.
  • Yes, provided that: – Taking into account the COVID-19 situation and setting of the Gala, your kid is over 4 years old; – You have purchased entry ticket for your kid and be responsible to arrange for the kid’s pre-requisites applicable to all guests (e.g. body temperature checking and wearing mask); and – A parent/guardian shall accompany the kid throughout the Gala and be responsible for the kid’s safety/behaviour.

The Post-Centennial Gala Dinner (the “Dinner”)

In order to attend the Dinner, you must first subscribe to attend the Centennial Gala via https://portal.dsoba.com/event/cg100-event/.

We also wish to remind all guests to:

  • Be subject to body temperature checking prior to entry;
  • Wear masks throughout the entire Centennial Gala; and
  • Use “LeaveHomeSafe” mobile application when entering and leaving the Centennial Gala.

After your table is confirmed by us, you, as the table host, will be required to send us all the names and relevant information of the 12 attending guests, including vaccination records or otherwise consent of providing negative results from either a COVID-19 PCR test conducted 7 days prior to the Dinner or COVID-19 rapid antigen test conducted 2 days prior to the Dinner. We shall provide you with more details on how to upload/send us all these particulars later on.
  • The Organizing Committee will try its best to make such arrangements so that you can sit with your friends and/or your class together, although this will be subject to the subscriptions that we receive, as well as the latest social distancing measures and other related regulations.
  • The Post-Gala DSOBA Dinner is open to both vaccinated (whether having taken 1 or 2 doses) as well as non-vaccinated Centennial Gala attendees. The Organizing Committee can only assign tables to groups with at least 2/3 of the guests per table have taken at least 1 dose of COVID-19 vaccine. For those who have not taken or cannot take the COVID-19 vaccine due to health reasons, you will be requested to produce the supporting proof in any event when you make your pre-registration online (which is already a Centennial Gala entry requirement).
  • You can pay by way of a cheque payable to “Diocesan School Old Boys’ Association Ltd.” or by way of bank transfer as soon as you subscribe for a table at https://forms.gle/xsY5zpxaMxVghWQq5. Payment instructions are also set out in the same website.
  • We regret to inform you that for administrative reasons there will be no refund for your subscription if you cannot turn up for the Dinner.

  • No, subscription for the Dinner is only available to those guests who have subscribed for the Centennial Gala.
  • Due to HKCEC’s requirements you will NOT be allowed to leave the dining hall where you are seated to another dining hall. However, the Organizing Committee will try its best to ensure that those whom you plan to sit in together with you for the same table will be able to do so.
  • Due to COVID-19-related restrictions, we can only arrange a VIP & Sponsorship Appreciation Dinner for limited sponsors. Priority will go to the sponsors who committed to sponsoring the DSOBA’s 99th anniversary annual dinner last year which was cancelled. We were fortunate that most of them have continued to demonstrate their commitment to supporting the Centennial Gala. Therefore, we regret to inform you that as of now there is no more extra capacity for VIP sponsorship tables and we apologize for the inconvenience.
  • Yes, provided that: – Taking into account the COVID-19 situation and setting of the Dinner, your kid is over 4 years old; – You have purchased seat for your kid and be responsible to arrange for the kid’s pre-requisites applicable to all guests (e.g. body temperature checking and wearing mask); and – A parent/guardian shall accompany the kid throughout the Dinner and be responsible for the kid’s safety/behaviour.

  11. How to prove that I have taken vaccinations? By eHealth(醫健通) or would Physical Vaccination Record(紙本疫苗接種紀錄) also do?
    • We highly encourage guests to pre-register and upload an encrypted copy of the Government official vaccination record as proof that matches the name of the specific guest.
  12. Do I need to scan “LeaveHomeSafe” (安心出行) mobile application to enter the venue? or would a hand filled form (手寫纸) will also do?
    • One of the HKCEC requirements for us to organize the Centennial Gala is to have all guests using and scanning the “LeaveHomeSafe” mobile application and to ensure smooth entry at the reception, please have it installed in advance.
  13. When should I arrive for the Centennial Gala?

the Organizing Committee will make such arrangements as to ensure that 2/3 of the guests per table are those who have taken at least 1 dose of COVID-19 vaccine (or otherwise negative results from either a COVID-19 PCR test conducted 7 days prior to the Dinner or COVID-19 rapid antigen test conducted 2 days prior to the Dinner). You will be required to produce proof in either event. Please read the terms and conditions carefully prior to subscribing to a table and reserving seats for the Dinner.

  6. Why I cannot find VIP sponsorship option in the dinner subscription form?
