About DSOBA

Diocesan School Old Boys’ Association

The Association
A limited company incorporated in Hong Kong on August 31, 1979.

Key Objectives
To foster and maintain contact between Old Boys of the Diocesan Boys’ School.

To promote and encourage social interaction amongst the members of the Association and the Old Boys of the Diocesan Boys’ School.

To establish, maintain and conduct a social club for the accommodation of members of the Association and their friends, and to provide club premises and other conveniences and generally to afford to members and their friends all the usual privileges, advantages, conveniences and accommodation of a social club.

To further the interest of past & present of the members of the DBS.

Structure
The day to day affairs of the Association are managed by a General Committee consisting of a President, 3 Vice Presidents (one of whom is always the current Headmaster of Diocesan Boys’ School), Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, Immediate Past President and 13 other members. All General Committee members, with the exception of the Vice President (Headmaster) and Immediate Past President, must be elected by DSOBA members at each Annual General Meeting upon retirement. The General Committee members will, in turn, elect among themselves Officers and Sub-committee Chairmen for the year in question.

About This Website

The first DSOBA website was constructed because of the overwhelming interest on the DBS Oversea Homepage (discontinued) by our fellow old boys. To better serve our members and to reach out further to our old boys, the Association saw a need to establish an official Web presence.

With the generous donation of domain registration fee from Alfonso Fung (76), a Pentium PC from our SysOp Kenneth Lo (96) and free webspace from Hong Kong Terminal, the website went online on October 1, 1997. In 2002, our server was relocated to Henderson Data Center on a P4 computer. In March 2008, the General Committee decided to relaunch the website and it became the official DSBOA website today.

The information within this site is researched and edited by our Newsletter & Internet Sub-committee.

Greetings! We are delighted to update you with two new announcements: 1) New Convening Committee of DSOBA Medical & Healthcare Chapter (May 2019 to April 2021); 2) DSOBA Joint Design & Built Environment Chapter (DBE) x Medical Healthcare Chapter (MHC) Dinner on June 27th, 2019.

In an effort to better connect DBS old boys in the healthcare profession with undergraduate students or members of the DBS community, we have restructured the convening committee of MHC to better serve our brothers, bringing in necessary new blood to bring new ideas and help organize activities.   1. DSOBA Joint Chapter (DBE x MHC) Dinner: BUILD FOR PATIENTS, June 27th, 2019

There are many aspects when our industry/professional expertise intersects with another. How can we design and develop healthcare facilities that are more patient-centric? Operational flow-friendly? Future-technology-proof? How can insights from clinical practice and patient feedback be translated to architects, developers, and regulators? Why is it relevant for clinicians to understand latest trends of innovative hospital and clinic design? Lessons drawn from designing for other industries? What’s more is that our alumini connect and synergise with related professions

We are proud to co-organize a social event that would bring brothers from these DSOBA chapters together in true DBS spirit. We are also delighted to have two brothers from our chapters (Dr. Fung Hong ’74, CEO of CUHK Medical Centre, and Tony Ho ’83, Chairman of Children’s Cancer Foundation) share their perspectives on how we can design and build better for patients.
