The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, today (May 20, 2008) appointed the first batch of eight Under Secretaries to bolster the strength and capacity of the Government's team of political appointees under the political appointment system.

Aged 43.  Mr Chen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University, a Master of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University and a Master Degree in Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. 

He joined the Hong Kong Jockey Club  in 2000 and is currently its Director of Racecourse Business. Mr Chen is a member of the Advisory Committee on Teacher Education and Qualifications and served as a part-time member of the Central Policy Unit between 1998 and 2000.

Standard Chartered Names Benjamin Hung As Hong Kong Chief Executive

HONG KONG -(Dow Jones)- Standard Chartered PLC (STAN.LN) said Wednesday its head of consumer banking in Hong Kong, Benjamin Hung, will succeed Peter Sullivan as the lender’s Hong Kong chief executive, effective Jan. 1.
Sullivan will retire as chief executive Dec. 31, the U.K.-based lender said in a statement.

The bank said Hung’s appointment still needs regulatory approval. Standard Chartered said in the statement that Hung joined the bank in 1992 and led the local consumer banking operation to a record profit in the first half.
